Excessive speed nets hefty fine

On April 2, 2023, BC Highway Patrol were out patrolling the highways near the Dawson Creek and Fort St. John area and caught three vehicles travelling excessively. One member stopped a vehicle that happened to be a new driver driving at 169 km/h in a posted 100 km/h speed zone. BC Highway Patrol reminds the public to please slow down and arrive at your destination safety. BC Highway Patrol Officer Constable Matthew MacCallum states, The posted speed limits serve as a reminder to the public to slow down and that exceeding these posted speed limits puts themselves and others at risk. Officer MacCallum stated," This new driver netted a hefty fine for $483, three penalty points, and had his vehicle impounded for seven days".
