Victim identified in Sunshine Coast Homicide

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) have identified the victim after human remains were located in a burning vehicle in Madeira Park, BC.

Background:

On September 28, 2022 at 1:13 a.m., the Sunshine Coast RCMP were called to assist the Egmont Fire Department after human remains were located inside a burning vehicle in the 15500-block of Sunshine Coast Highway in Madeira Park, BC. IHIT took conduct of the investigation and continue to work with the Sunshine Coast RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the RCMP Integrated Forensic Identification Section (IFIS).

The burned vehicle has been identified as a white, 2016 Volvo XC90. IHIT is identifying the deceased as the registered owner of the vehicle, Shaun Hoole of Sechelt, in hopes of furthering their investigation.

IHIT is once again appealing to the public for information that could help advance our investigation.

Investigators continue working to build a timeline of Mr. Hoole’s movements leading up to his death," says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. We are urging anyone who had contact with Mr. Hoole in the days leading up to September 28, who has yet to speak to police or those with new information to share, to please come forward.
