One man arrested and charged following two theft incidents.
On January 2, 2024, Salt Spring RCMP responded to a local gas station on Fulford Ganges Rd after a man allegedly stole a tip jar. Police located and arrested the suspect and he was eventually released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
On January 29, 2024 Salt Spring Island Pharmasave staff reported that on the day prior (January 28, 2024) a man allegedly attended the store and demanded cash. Police located the man and arrested him for Robbery and held him in custody for court.
A detailed report to Crown Counsel was forwarded for consideration of charges. As a result, Crown Counsel approved one count of Theft and one count of Robbery against the suspect, 55-year-old Joao Soares.
Mr. Soares is due to appear in Salt Spring court on March 8, 2024.
