Suspicious activity at Haisla Docks:

On January 5, 2024, Kitimat RCMP received a report that electrical boxes at the docks had been opened and used by an unauthorized user over the Christmas break. Police attended and didn’t see any pry marks, however there were a few plugs in use. Police spoke to some of the dock users and they weren’t able to give much detail. If anyone has any information about this please contact the Kitimat RCMP non-emergency number at 250-632-7111. (24-57)

Driving complaint:

January 6, 2024, Kitimat RCMP received a report of an erratic driver on Highway 37. Police located the vehicle and were able to caution the driver and resolve the issue, part of which was the sun interfering with their visibility. (24-65)

Suspicious circumstances:

January 7, 2024 at 7:23 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a complaint about a male pounding on the caller’s door. The male was known to the caller and they were concerned for their safety. Police attended and patrolled the area however the male was not located. The caller further would not respond to police attempts to follow up so there were no further avenues of investigation. (24-

Theft thwarted:

On January 8, 2024 just after midnight, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a theft in progress. The complaint was able to identify the suspect and Police were able to locate the suspect in his vehicle. Police arrested the suspect and passenger and recovered the stolen item from the vehicle. The item was returned to the owner and the suspects were released without charges as the owner just wanted the item returned. (24-79)

Assault:

January 9, 2024, at 9:24pm, Kitimat RCMP responded to a report of an assault that had taken place. Police attended and located a number of people in the residence, one of which had been pushed and fell down hitting his head. Emergency Health Services attended and assessed the male for injury which he was without. The male was not supportive of any charges and just wanted the male who pushed him to leave which he did without further incident. (24-109)

Suspicious circumstances:

January 10, 2024, Kitimat RCMP was notified of a suspicious person walking around with a flashlight possibly going into someone’s yard. Police attended and located people out walking dogs and de-icing vehicles but no one with a flashlight. Police spoke to the homeowner of the residence where the person with the flashlight may have gone and the homeowner confirmed no one had been in their yard. (24-111)
