Fort St John RCMP make a quick arrest after commercial break and enter

On March 21, 2023, at 11:14pm, the Fort St John RCMP received a break and enter alarm from a business located in the area of 9803 93rd Avenue, Fort St John.

Frontline police officers attended and found the glass door and the front glass display windows had been smashed. Police observed that the window displays were in disarray and all the merchandise appeared to had been taken.

Frontline police officers were able to obtain a description of the lone suspect.

20 minutes later, after an intense search of the area, a man matching the suspect description was located by Matthews Park while in possession of the stolen items.

Justin Collins was arrested and held for court.  At the time of arrest, Collins was in breach of a Probation Order and a Release Order.

BC Crown Prosecution Service approved charges of Break and Enter, Theft under $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Mischief under $5000, Fail to comply with Probation Order and Breach of Release Order.

The quick initial response and the diligent follow up search by the Fort St John RCMP enabled us to find and arrest this man and bring him before the courts in this matter, said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP.

Collins has been remanded by the courts until March 27, 2023.
