Hit and run motor vehicle incident in Rossland

On Sunday, March 13th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report of a hit and run motor vehicle incident in the 1900 block of Columbia Avenue, in Rossland, BC.

The officer was informed by a witness that a red 2021 Ford F150 truck had allegedly struck a parked 2012 Chevrolet Cruz car. The truck and car both sustained damage from the collision. The investigating officer located pieces of the truck and tire marks at the scene of the incident. The officer continued his investigation and located the truck parked outside a business with pieces of the parked car still on his bumper. The officer made an inquiry at a local business which led him to locating the driver a short distance away.

The driver was cooperative with the officer and allegedly admitted fault in the incident.
The officer issued the 49-year-old Rossland man a $368 for Fail to Remain at the Scene of Accident contrary to Section 68(1) of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and a $598 fine for No Insurance contrary to Section 24(3)(b) of the BC MVA.
