2023-1229 and 2023-1161– Impaired driving

On March 5, 2023, at about 6:45 p.m., police received a report of an erratic driver on Highway 99. Police found the car and the driver who showed signs of impairment. The driver provided breath samples which showed FAIL. In another unrelated file on March 2, 2023, a member on patrol saw a car speeding excessively. When the officer did a check stop, the driver was unlicensed, he showed signs of impairment, and he refused to provide breath samples. In both files, drivers received 90 day driving prohibitions and had their cars impounded.

2023-1180 – Motor vehicle incident

On March 3, 2023, at about 6:15 a.m., a large boulder fell onto Highway 99, north of Sunset Marina. Before clearing crews were able to arrive, one driver was able to navigate around the boulder; however, a second driver was not. As a result, the second driver hit the boulder, receiving extensive damage to his car, however, he or his passengers did not receive any injuries.

2023-1213 – Theft of vehicle

On March 3, 2023, sometime between 12:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., someone stole a blue 2008 Ford Escape that was parked along the Mamquam River FSR between mile marker 1.5 and 2. Police have exhausted their investigational leads and have concluded this file, however, will reopen it if they receive any new information.

2023-1202 – Assist Fire Rescue

On March 4, 2023, at about 6:15 a.m., police responded to a call for assistance from Fire Rescue who were in the 38900 block of Progress Way at a structure fire in an abandoned building. The fire was deemed not suspicious, the building was destroyed, and no one was injured.
