Intoxicated in public

On February 2 at 6:30pm, a complainant reported an intoxicated man in the 600 block of Main St. Police attended and located a known man stumbling on the sidewalk. The man was unsteady on his feet, with slurred speech and clearly incapable of caring for himself. The man was too intoxicated to fight, but nonetheless challenged members to a fight, which never occurred. The man was arrested without incident and transported to cells to safety sober up overnight.

Mistaken identity

On February 5 at 4pm, a woman reported that her ex-boyfriend was on no-contact conditions with her, and he had just driven by her residence in a truck. Police quickly located the described truck on the other side of Lillooet. The truck was owned and driven by a man that was not the woman’s ex-boyfriend, although they did look similar.

Suspicious persons

On February 6 at 7pm Lillooet RCMP were on patrol and observed two suspicious people with flashlights outside of a residence in the Hop farm area. Police attended the residence and spoke with two women who stated they were looking for a cat that had got outside. Police located the cat and assisted the women getting it back inside. No further safety concerns.

Collision

On February 9 at 8pm, a staff member at the local Tim Horton’s reported that a vehicle had crashed through the front entrance and the driver was cooperative. Police attended and spoke with the driver who was uninjured. The driver stated they were parking, and in an effort to put the vehicle in park inadvertently pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake. This caused the vehicle to accelerate forward into the front entrance. Fortunately no injuries. The matter was referred to ICBC.

Collision

On February 10 at 10am, police attended for reports of two rolled over semis on Hwy 99 near Pavilion. On scene was a rolled over semi carrying hay, and second semi carrying logs. No injuries to either driver. The road was extremely slippery. The hay semi had come around a corner and lost traction causing it to overturn. The log semi followed and observed the first rolled over semi blocking the road, also lost traction and went into the ditch in an effort to avoid a full-on two-vehicle collision. An apparent water source was leaking onto the road causing ice on the road; however, it was unclear where the water was coming from. The matter was referred to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure as the highway was temporarily reduced to single lane alternating traffic.

Road check

On February 11 at 4:30pm Lillooet RCMP and Stl’atl’imx Police conducted a road check on Hwy 99 near Fountain Valley Rd. Approximately 30 vehicles were checked. One prohibited driver was located and served a future court date and a 7-day vehicle impound. One violation ticket was also issued.
