Military clothing and personal items recovered from man passed out in washroom

On Friday, February 10, 2023, at 10:28 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report about an unconscious male inside a business in the 700 block of Victoria Street, in Trail, BC.

Officers attended and located a 26-year-old Trail man passed out in a washroom stall. The man was suspected to be under the influence of an illicit drug; however, woke up when officers attended. The officers noticed that the man was dressed in military camouflage clothing that had allegedly been stolen out of a vehicle earlier that morning. Officers arrested the man for possessing the stolen property and took him into custody. A search by police incidental to arrest discovered other items worth around $3000 allegedly stolen from the same vehicle.

The 26-year-old Trail man will face one count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code when he makes his first appearance on April 27, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC.

Officers respond to break and enter incident at Dairy Queen

On Sunday, February 12,2023 at 2:27 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report a break and enter in progress at a restaurant in the 1100 block of Bay Ave, Trail, BC.

A passerby witnessed a male break open a window and climb inside the business. Two officers quickly arrived on scene and saw the man who had painted his face black standing inside the restaurant business looking back out the window. One officer informed the culprit through the window that he was under arrest for break and enter. The man began running back and forth inside the restaurant while looking for an escape route. Officers maintained a perimeter until the man exited the front door. The officers identified the 35-year-old Trail man who then attempted to sprint away from the scene. The man did not make it far before tripping over a curb and being caught by the arresting officers. The man was taken into custody and lodged into the cellblock at the Trail Detachment.

The 35-year-old Trail man will face one count of Break and Enter contrary to Section 348(1) of the Criminal Code, Resisting Arrest contrary to Section 129 of the Criminal Code, and Disguise with Intent contrary to Section 351(2) of the Criminal Code when he makes his first appearance on May 25, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC.

The man allegedly told the arresting officers that he was upset he did not have time to eat something while inside the restaurant. I hope he inquiries about the operating hours of the business in the future so he can avoid the inconvenient arrest by police before dining. – Sgt. Wicentowich
