Shattered window:

During the early morning hours of December 28th, 2022, the Kitimat RCMP were advised of a mischief on Whittlesey St, in Kitimat BC. It was reported that a window had been broken in a vehicle sometime in the evening. A Kitimat RCMP attended the scene to investigate the mischief.

New Year files:

The Kitimat RCMP had a steady night shift from 7:00 pm December 31st, 2022, until 7:00 am January 1st, 2023. The police officers responded to 12 files including two assault files, bar checks, a drive with no driver’s license file and a fireworks complaint. Three people were apprehended for various offences and lodged into the Kitimat RCMP Cells. The Kitimat RCMP would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and all the best for 2023.

False 911 call:

In the evening of January 1st, 2023, the Kitimat RCMP responded to a 911 call on Stickney Street in Kitimat BC. Attendance was made by a Kitimat RCMP officer and the investigation revealed that a child had called 911 from an old cellular phone. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind everyone that even cellphones that are not on a contract or plan can still call 911. If you have a child that plays with a cellphone, ensure the batteries are completely drained. If they use it for games or apps, educate them with the proper use of the 911 system.

Drinking in public:

While on routine patrol, during the late morning hours of January 2nd, 2023, a Kitimat police officer was advised of a group of people drinking alcohol at a local bus stop. The police officer found one-person consuming alcohol. The alcohol was poured out and the person was issued a violation ticket for being intoxicated in public.

Attempted break and enter:

A Kitimat resident, returning home after being away during the holidays on January 2nd, 2023, found that a sliding door of their residence was damaged. The Kitimat RCMP officer attended and found shoe prints in the snow and it appeared that someone attempted to enter the residence. There was minimal damage and entry was not gained.

Driving while prohibited:

While making patrols on January 4th, 2023, a RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop and found the driver to be driving while prohibited. The driver was arrested and released with paperwork to attend court on a future date. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Found Keys:

Are you missing your keys? On January 4th, 2023, at approximately 4:30 pm, a set of keys was turned into the Kitimat RCMP Detachment. The keys were found on the 600 block of Mountain View Square, Kitimat BC. If you are missing keys and can identify them, we’d like to return them to you.
