On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Cst. Casey and Cst. Richens from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP organized a Cram the Cruiser toy drive with the intentions of filling the detachment’s prisoner van to benefit the Cowichan Valley Basket Society and low income Youth and their families.

With the assistance of the Duncan Volunteer Fire Department, Cowichan Community Policing and Engagement Society, Mad Eats, Extra Storage Now, over 500 donations and $550 in cash were collected. All donations were used to benefit families that may be struggling financially this holiday season.

"The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP would like to thank all of the volunteers, community members, First Responders, and managers that helped setup the event and came out to spread holiday cheer and collect donations. We would like to also thank Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule by coming down from the North Pole and taking photos with the kids" said Cst. Casey of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP. "The goal to fill the Police Van was met and the Duncan/North Cowichan RCMP is looking forward to participating and organizing similar events next year."

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP would like to express its appreciation for all those that so generously donated to make the holiday season brighter for those less fortunate.
