Two suspects arrested after failure to stop

On November 30, 2022, the Fort St John RCMP Crime Reduction Unit was conducting a stolen property investigation in the 10000 block of 114th Avenue, when they observed a vehicle leave the residence under surveillance. A traffic stop was attempted with the vehicle, but it failed to stop for police.

Moments later, the same suspect vehicle was located by a patrolling frontline police officer who conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle. At the time, the driver and passenger were arrested for Flight from Police.

During the investigation a loaded handgun was located on the passenger and seized by police.

As a result of the investigation by the Fort St John RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, the driver, Ryan Tutt was charged with:

• flight from a police officer while being pursued and,
• possession of break and enter instruments.

Ryan Tutt was held for court and released on a Release Order with a future court date of December 19, 2022.

Crown approved the following charges against the passenger, Curtis Bagan:

• Possession of a restricted firearm without being the holder of a license under which may possess a firearm;
• Occupying a motor vehicle knowing there was a restricted firearm, a handgun, in the vehicle;
• Possessing a loaded restricted firearm, a handgun, without being the holder of an authorization or a license under which he may possess the firearm;
• Carrying a concealed weapon, a handgun;
• Without lawful excuse transport a firearm or ammunition, in a careless manner;
• Transporting a firearm, a handgun, in a manner contrary to a regulation made under paragraph 117(h) of the Firearms Act;
• Possessing a restricted firearm and ammunition while he was prohibited from doing so by any order under this Act or any other Act of Parliament;
• Possessing a restricted firearm and ammunition while he was prohibited from doing so by any order under this Act or any other Act of Parliament; and
• Possessing a restricted firearm and ammunition while he was prohibited from doing so by any order under this Act or any other Act of Parliament.

Curtis Bagan was remanded into custody until December 12 to re-appear before the courts.
