On November 29, 2022, at 4:38 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a report of a break, enter, and theft from McDonald’s Restaurant located at 799 Victoria Street, in Trail, BC. Video surveillance captured a man prying opening a Drive-Thru window and stealing $150.00 from a cash register located inside the building. The man appears to be Caucasian and was wearing a black hooded winter jacket with white piping on the sleeves.

On November 29, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a complaint of a 28–year-old Trail man allegedly stealing food from a business located in the 1000 block of Second Avenue, in Trail, BC. RCMP officers attended and located the man walking across Second Avenue holding a full grocery basket. Upon seeing the police, the man fled on foot with the basket.

RCMP officers chased the man through the streets while the man attempted to thwart them by throwing sandwiches at his pursuers. The officers eventually caught the man and placed him under arrest; however, the business declined to proceed with charges after the groceries were returned.

Trail RCMP officers discovered that the 28-year-old man had a outstanding Warrant of Apprehension under the Mental Health Act. Trail RCMP apprehended the man and transported him to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for a medical assessment.

Roadside investigation leads to driver prohibition and drug seizure

On December 2, 2022, at 9:00 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer observed three men travelling westbound in a vehicle with inoperable tail lights on Victoria Street, in Trail, BC. The officer detained the vehicle and conducted an investigation roadside. The RCMP officer discovered that the driver, a 33-year-old Trail man, alleged did not possess a valid BC Driver’s Licence. The RCMP officer served the man was served a BC Motor Vehicle Act Notice of Driving Prohibition and had the vehicle was impounded for up to 7 days.

During the investigation. the officer saw was he believed to be drug use paraphernalia inside the vehicle and arrested a passenger, a 40-year-old Trail man, who also had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. The officer took the man into custody. The officer searched the man incident to his arrest and discovered that he was in possession of several packages of a powdery white substances believed to be Cocaine and Fentanyl, and over $1000.00 in Canadian currency.

Trail RCMP will forward one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act to Federal Crown Counsel against the 40-year-old Trail man. He will make his first appearance on March 2, 2023, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC,

Package theft from Trail residence

On December 3, 2022, at 7:20 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report of a theft of a package worth $50.00 from the front porch of a residence on Carnation Drive, in Trail, BC. The suspect was caught on surveillance video stealing the package and Trail RCMP requests assistance from the public in identifying the suspect in the photograph.

The holidays have official begun with the first snow shovel fight of the year

On December 3, 2022, at 8:45 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a complaint of a consensual fight between a 28-year-old Trail man and a 33-year-old Trail man over an insult and a parking spot in the 900 block of Warren Lane, in Trail, BC.

The 33-year-old man had cleared a parking spot in the snow when an unsuspecting 29-year-old Trail woman parked in his newly cleared stall. The man called the woman the b-word that resulted in her boyfriend, a 28-year-old man, exiting his residence and engaging his neighbour in a physical fight. The fight escalated into each man hitting the other once with a snow shovel before a stare down stand-off. The fight ended when the mother of the 33-year-old man exited her residence and yelled at the two men to stop fighting. The fight ended and the 28-year-old man hugged the 33-year-old man’s mom, and left the scene.

No criminal charge will be pursued in this matter.
