The Port Alberni RCMP received a number of hand-sewn bears from students at John Paul II School.

On November 17 2022, a group of Grade 5 and 6 students toured the Port Alberni detachment, and delivered several hand-sewn bears that they had created themselves. Students have delivered bears to the RCMP, Port Alberni Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service.

It is very often that emergency services deal with children on what could be a horrible day in their life. These bears give us the opportunity to bring just a little bit of comfort when it is needed most, stated Constable Richard Johns. Knowing that these bears came from a young person wanting to help makes these very special.

Officers will carry these in their vehicles for when the time is right.

Thank you so much to the students and staff at John Paul II School for making this happen.
