2022-5171 – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

On the evening of October 7, 2022, members were doing proactive village foot patrols in the 4000 block of Whistler Way and saw a man holding a mobile phone with lines of white powder believed to be cocaine. When the man saw police, he tipped the phone to dump the powder, wiped his phone off, then threw two small bags of similar white powder down the steps. Police arrested the man, who was from out of area, and later released him without charges given he had no previous drug history involving police and because the quantities of drugs found was small.

2022-5172 – Impaired driving and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

During the evening of October 27, 2022, a member was doing proactive traffic enforcement on Village Gate Blvd, and stopped and arrested a prohibited driver from out of area, who had been speeding. The driver showed signs of impairment, and his breath samples provided to the member showed he had drunk too much to drive legally. While searching the driver’s car, the member also found quantities of different drugs. Police impounded the car for 30 days, issued the driver a driving prohibition for 90 days, compelled him to court for driving while prohibited, and disposed of the small quantity of drugs.

2022-5123/2022-5103 – Theft from auto/Rummaging through vehicle

Sometime overnight on October 5, 2022, a car owner had their wallet and contents stolen from their car that was parked in the 9400 block Emerald Dr. Thieves got into the car through an unlocked door. The owner cancelled their bank cards to prevent any future frauds from happening. In a separate incident that happened sometime overnight on October 4, 2022, unknown suspects rummaged through the glove box of a pickup truck parked in the 6600 block of Cedar Grove Lane. Suspects did not steal anything nor was any damage done to the pickup truck.
