File # 2022-5952
On September 15, 2022, at about 12:00 p.m., Sea to Sky RCMP Squamish received a report of a motor vehicle incident on Highway 99 near Browning Lake, involving two cars in a head-on collision, and a grey dump truck with trailer that continued driving after the two cars collided.
Near where three traffic lanes turn into two, the driver of a pickup truck travelling northbound on the inside lane was forced into oncoming traffic due to a dump truck overtaking his lane. As a result, the pickup driver collided head-on with the driver of a third car that was travelling in the southbound lane.
The highway was completely closed for a short time so first responders could tend to injured people and investigate. Occupants received non-life-threatening medical attention.
After the collision, the dump truck driver kept driving, and remains unidentified,
