Over 1,000 vehicles checked during traffic enforcement operation in Cowichan Bay

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP officers were kept busy last weekend during a traffic enforcement operation in Cowichan Bay.
On September 24, 2022 officers of the North Cowichan/Duncan detachment, along with officers of the British Columbia Highway Patrol (BCHP) Traffic Safety Unit Police Dog Service, conducted a traffic enforcement initiative in Cowichan Bay, within the City of Duncan, and on the Trans-Canada Highway, as part of their ongoing commitment to traffic safety.
Police checked over 1,000 vehicles and drivers for sobriety and MVA compliances. During this initiative, officers issued 30 written warnings, 28 violation tickets, 15 Notice and Orders, including an excessive speed and two impaired driving investigations.
Furthermore, officers caught three prohibited driver files and conducted two Cannabis Act investigations, including a seizure of over 480 grams of dried cannabis and 45 packages of edibles.

Officers received positive feedback from the general public during this enforcement operation
