File # 2022-1859
The Northern Rockies RCMP are investigating eight reports of commercial businesses being broken into during the month of August. The most recent of which occurred during the morning hours of Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
At just after 3:00 am police were called to Petro Canada on 50th Ave S in Fort Nelson. Thanks to a quick response by both the police and the property representative, a man was located inside the closed business and was subsequently arrested without incident.
While police were still on scene at the Petro Canada, two separate alarms, at nearby businesses, were reported to police. An alarm from the Fast Gas and Chevron gas station were activated within an hour of each other. Both businesses had been broken into and merchandise was taken.
Despite immediate response, upon police arrival, the suspect(s) were not located. Many investigative avenues are being conducted, including video surveillance, gathering of forensic evidence, and obtaining witness statements to identify those responsible.
The Northern Rockies RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed any of these incidents, or has knowledge of who is responsible to contact police. Anyone with information are asked to contact the detachment at 250-774-2700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
