Theft from vehicle
On August 1st, Quadra RCMP received a report of a theft from a vehicle parked on Ferry Road in Quathiaski Cove. The incident appeared to have occurred sometime in the last 3-4 days and approximately $4.00 was stolen. The vehicle was unlocked. Quadra RCMP are reminding the public to remove valuables from their vehicles and to ensure their vehicles are locked.

Possible fraud
On August 1, a complainant contacted the Quadra RCMP and stated that he had received a fraudulent phone call. The caller claimed to be contacting him from Telus Promotions and were going to give him a free phone and cut his bill in half. The complainant provided his credit card number and driver license number before realizing it was likely a scam. The caller then cancelled his credit card and let police know right away.

Threats
On August 1st, a complainant reported threats from a previous employee on Cortes Island. The complainant advised that the individual used to work for him, however, the relationship had dissolved and the ex-employee still owed him a few hundred dollars. When confronted, the individual sent a veiled threat via text message to the complainant. The complainant didn’t want charges at this time and requested the incident documented. Quadra RCMP have received multiple complaints about this individual, who is a visitor to Cortes Island, and have investigated each and every one of them. Despite efforts from the police, individuals involved have not wanted to proceed with charges and therefore the police have been unable to proceed with the investigations. The RCMP will continue to respond to each and every allegation and encourage the public to keep reporting incidents.
