Ridge Meadows RCMP – Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

On February 2, 2023 at approximately 8:15 pm, Ridge Meadows frontline officers responded to a report that a man had been struck in the area of Lougheed Highway and 216th Street.

A 69-year-old man was attempting to cross Lougheed Highway in an unmarked area at the time of the collision and wearing dark clothing.

BC Emergency Health Services attempted life saving measures on the man however the man was pronounced deceased on scene by BC Coroners Services.

Ridge Meadows Serious Crimes Unit attended the scene and called out the Integrated Collision Investigative Services to assist with the investigation.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating police. Speed, drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor on part of the driver as a cause of the collision.

Lougheed Highway was closed for approximately 4 hours to enable Police to investigate this incident safely.
