File # Public advisory

Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP is reminding citizens to plan ahead if you will be drinking.

On the evening of December 28, Ridge Meadows RCMP’s General Duty C Watch members and the Road Safety Target Team were performing regular duties in the community when, throughout the shift, they stopped and issued impaired driving tickets, including impounding vehicles, for 6 drivers;

What is significant is that these are only the drivers we are able to engage with which, to us, suggests there are still many in our community who are not getting the message or simply ignoring the dangers around impaired driving, state Sergeant Amanda Harnett. All we want is for people to plan ahead and get home safe.

Ridge Meadows RCMP will continue to investigate and remove impaired drivers from the roads of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.

For further information on the Immediate Roadside Prohibition legislation go to ICBC’s Driver Prohibitions.
