Assault and dangerous operation of vehicle

Maple Ridge B.C – Ridge Meadows RCMP located the alleged assault suspect that resulted in traffic closures Friday afternoon.

On July 8, 2021, at approximately 2pm, Ridge Meadows received a report where a man identified as Mr. Odiss Webb was involved in an alleged assault. Mr. Webb allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle when police arrived nearly hitting an officer with his vehicle. RCMP Air 1 was called to assist, however due to public safety and erratic driving RCMP Air 1 ceased following.
 

On July 9, 2021, Ridge Meadows RCMP received information that Mr. Webb was possibly at a location in the 22100 block of Lougheed Highway. The Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT) was engaged as it was believed Mr. Webb might be in possession of a firearm. The roads and surrounding area was closed as a precaution to ensure public safety. Mr. Webb was not located inside the residence.
 

On July 13, 2021, Ridge Meadows officers were actively searching for Mr. Webb when frontline officer observed Mr. Webb riding a bicycle in the downtown core. Mr. Webb made further attempts to flee from Police however he was arrested and taken into custody in the 22700 block of Gilley Ave, where he was transported to cells and held for court.


"We understand the inconvenience of roads being closed at rush hour is less than ideal, and we don’t make these decisions lightly" states Constable Julie Klaussner. "However, the safety of the public is the primary concern in these dynamic unfolding circumstances especially when a suspect may be in possession of a weapon."


On July 14, Mr. Webb was charged with the following offences:
 

Mr. Webb is being remanded until July 20, 2021.
