Fatal motor vehicle collision

Maple Ridge B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a motor vehicle incident that has resulted in one person dying.

On December 9, 2020, at around 4:00 PM, Ridge Meadows RCMP with the assistance of Maple Ridge Fire Department, and BC Ambulance Services responded to a serious motor vehicle incident in the 22800 block of Lougheed Highway.

A grey Jetta being driven by a 60 year old man, was travelling Westbound on Lougheed Highway when it turned left into the path of an Eastbound Toyota pickup truck. The truck, being driven by an 18 year old man, made attempts to avoid hitting the Jetta however was unsuccessful. The passenger of the Jetta, a 79 year old woman received medical attention on scene and was transported to hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries and died.

"What a tragic outcome and our thoughts and prayers go out to this family who lost a loved one in this collision." States Constable Julie Klaussner. "Thank you to all the people who stopped to assist the woman in the moments after the collision, we recognize that there is always an impact when citizens are exposed to traumatic incidents."
