Maple Ridge, B.C. – After months of community consultation Ridge Meadows RCMP is releasing the results of their unique strategic planning initiative.
All RCMP detachments are required to complete strategic plans and, beginning in July, 2020, the Ridge Meadows RCMP embarked on an innovative process in the development of their forthcoming strategic plan which would determine detachment priorities. The unique use of video presentations explored ‘Why’ police officers perform the work they do, ‘How’ police and community partners collaborate and finally, an invitation to the public to participate in an online survey was provided in an effort to seek direct public input.
Today, the Ridge Meadows RCMP is proud to share the results of months of collective input and consultation with community partners and citizens. The plan also incorporates public safety priorities as identified by City of Maple Ridge Mayor and council. This is the final video of the three-part series, defining ‘The What’, and will carry the detachment through to 2024.
The five areas of focus that have been identified through community consultation will be:
- Communication and Education
- Crime Reduction and Community Safety
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Partnerships and Collaboration
- Organizational Excellence
‘We sought public input and the public delivered, states Superintendent Hyland.
Thank you to everyone who took time to complete the online survey and who participated in the collaboration sessions while providing thoughtful insight. The overwhelming participation has been inspiring and we are proud to deliver on what the community has helped to create."
Get Involved. Be part of the solution. We will all be better together.
Superintendent Jennifer Hyland
Officer in Charge
Ridge Meadows RCMP
