Drugs and weapons seized in joint-force operation

Maple Ridge B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP and Metro Vancouver Transit Police have recovered multiple illegal items after a search warrant was executed as part of a joint force operation.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police were conducting investigations along transit corridors which led them to investigate a local residence. On November 13, 2020, in a joint force operation with the Ridge Meadows RCMP’s Street Enforcement Unit (SEU), police executed a search warrant at a house in the 22100 block of Lougheed Highway.
As a result of the joint investigation and subsequent search warrant, three people, a 34 year old, Maple Ridge, man, a 50 year old, Maple Ridge woman, and 45 year old man of no fixed address, were arrested at the scene. The following Items were also seized;
- A knife, brass knuckles and imitation weapons
- Drugs suspected to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis.
- Drug paraphernalia with scales and packaging
- Over $11,000 in Canadian currency.
"This is an example of two different police agencies working together with the common goal of stopping unwanted criminal activity in our community," states Inspector Wendy Mehat. "Additionally, Ridge Meadows RCMP will be working with the City of Maple Ridge to enforce any applicable nuisance bylaws against the property owner(s)."
"We want the transit system to be an unwelcome place for criminals. This investigation highlights how criminal activity in and around the transit system can have dire consequences for those involved. Partnerships with our jurisdictional partners, like Ridge Meadows RCMP, are critical in reducing crime on transit" states Sergeant Clint Hampton, Metro Vancouver Transit Police.
The investigation is still ongoing and Metro Vancouver Transit Police has conduct of this police file.
