Firearms and a significant amount of cash and drugs were seized by police during a residential search warrant execution in Westsyde last week.

On Thursday April 11, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Targeted Enforcement Unit (TEU) attended a residence on the 2700-block of Westsyde Road as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking. At the location, officers located and seized approximately one kilogram of suspected meth, 12 ounces of cocaine, and 11 ounces of fentanyl; cash; and weapons including a carbine, two shotguns, a rifle, and a taser.

Last week’s successful search warrant execution was part of the proactive and continuous work that our TEU continues to initiate, and complements other recent seizures the team has made in Kamloops as part of our efforts to target those engaged in drug trafficking and violent crime in our community, said Superintendent Jeff Pelley, Kamloops RCMP Detachment Commander. We look forward to being able to announce more future successes as we continue to advance our ongoing investigations.

Kamloops RCMP frontline officers and the Police Dog Service Unit assisted TEU with the search. One person was arrested and released as part of the ongoing investigation.

The TEU’s commitment and dedication to targeting those involved in the drug trade continues to remove dangerous weapons and potentially lethal drugs from the community, said Sergeant Kevin McIntyre of the TEU. We encourage anyone involved in a criminal lifestyle to reconsider their choices and seek supports on an exit strategy.
