File # 2024-11135

A report involving a weapon has led to the arrest of three suspects and an ongoing police presence near Kootenay Way.

Earlier today, April 17, 2024, Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP officers began an investigation into the report, which brought them to a residence near Kootenay Way and to a motel on Columbia Street. In total, three people were taken into custody; no suspects are outstanding.

Due to the reported presence of a firearm and the subsequent increased risk assessment, police requested the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. The team was able to help safely clear a residence, as well as take two of the three suspects into custody. The general public is not believed to be at risk.

A police presence remains near Kootenay Way as police await a search warrant. Anyone with information that may be related to this ongoing investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment and reference file 2024-11135.
