Missing person located deceased

A Kamloops man who was reported missing to police on Nov. 17, 2023, has been sadly located deceased.

On April 16, 2024, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of a suspected deceased person in the Thompson River, observed when a helicopter had flown over the area. With the assistance of the Kamloops Search and Rescue, the person was recovered and confirmed to be a missing 32-year-old man, last believed to have been in Mission Flats.

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. At this time, no criminality is suspected by police. The investigation will remain with the BC Coroners Service.

Police will not be releasing the man’s name in order to protect his privacy. The original missing person’s media release will be removed from the Kamloops RCMP website.
