Did you witness an attempted car-jacking?

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is seeking witnesses and video related to an attempted car-jacking that occurred Wednesday evening in Valleyview.

Just before 7 p.m. on Oct. 18, 2023, Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were called to the 1900-block of Curlew Drive, where a courier driver reported that a man had opened the door to his small, white, delivery van and attempted to pull him out. The victim was able to fight off the suspect, who then fled on foot toward Oriole Drive.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, 6 ft tall, skinny, with large framed glasses, a large, straight nose, and wearing a dark blue hoody.

We are asking area residents who have security or dash cameras to please review their video footage between 6:45 and 7 p.m. to determine if it caught the incident or the suspect as he fled, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Anyone who has information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP and cite file 2023-37701.
