Here are some ways to help deter catalytic converter thefts:
- Park in a secure garage or compound when possible. Otherwise, park in a well-lit and populated area.
- Park so it is difficult to access under your car, such as against a wall or closer to lower vehicles.
- Install a product (such as a wire cage or alarm) designed to prevent catalytic converter theft.
- Park vehicles left at businesses overnight in a locked, fenced area.
- Install motion sensor lighting and good quality security cameras.
Consider registering your home or business surveillance system with the City of Prince George’s CCTV registry. For more information, visit the City of Prince George website at www.princegeorge.ca/cctv (English only).
