2022-4267 – Check Stop
On the evening of August 20, 2022, local members did an impaired driving check-stop, checking about 30 drivers. Members had two drivers provide breath samples due to possible levels of impairment, and both drivers were determined to be legally allowed to drive.
2022-4259 - Collision
On August 20, 2022, on Highway 99 near Autumn Dr., a car with three people inside rolled over and almost went into a ditch. Whistler Fire Rescue and BC Ambulance assisted with the three people who had minor injuries, while police did the accident investigation. Impairment was not a factor with the collision.
2022-4263 – Assist By-Law
On August 20, 2022, RCMP assisted local By-Laws with a report of three dogs in a parked vehicle during hot weather. Police gained entry to the car that was 29 degrees inside, and along with By-Laws gave the dogs much needed water. By-Laws seized the dogs, transported them to Whistler Animals Galore for their safety, and police issued violation tickets to the owner who later picked up their dogs.
2022-4223 – 90 Day Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On August 19, 2022, a member was on patrol on Highway 99 near Lorimer Rd. when he saw a car being driven unsafely and speeding. The member did a traffic stop and determined the driver was over the legal limit to drive. Under the Motor Vehicle Act, the member impounded the driver’s car for 30 days, and the driver is not allowed to drive for three months.
2022-4219 – Theft/Fraud
On August 18, 2022, a man used stolen credit cards to purchase items at a number of local stores. Police arrested this man, released him with a future court date, and facilitated his transportation back to Vancouver where he is from.
