On Saturday December 3, 2022, Ridge Meadows RCMP with the support the Crime Prevention Team and volunteers, led by the Road Safety Target Team, set up road blocks at several locations in the City. The goal was to remove impaired drivers from our roads and show some appreciation to the designated drivers for their efforts with McDonalds coffee coupons.

Project Domino checked 1071 vehicles in the evening and thank you to all those drivers that chose to plan a safe ride home.

There were 18 violation tickets issued to drivers for varying driving infractions. Some of the following offences occurred throughout the evening including the following:

"For a majority of the drivers out there this was a gentle reminder that Police in Maple Ridge continue to prioritize impaired driving through the holiday season." States Cpl. Eric Obermayer of RSTT. "For some drivers this was more of a harsh reminder of the consequences that can occur when you decide to drive while impaired."

"There’s no excuse to drink and drive," said Kate Woochuk, local ICBC road safety coordinator. "If your celebrations involve alcohol, please plan ahead for a safe ride home - arrange a designated driver, call a taxi, take transit or use Operation Red Nose. Help keep B.C. roads safe for everyone this holiday season."
