Police presence on Victoria Street West: drugs and gun seized

An investigation into a prolific offender led the Kamloops Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) to take two men into custody yesterday afternoon.

On July 24, 2024, around 2 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers were engaged in a stolen property report which led them to an address on Victoria Street West. The suspects involved were also subject to an ongoing investigation being conducted by the CRU, which also attended the location in response.

A large police presence was visible at the time and although several people were detained, only two were arrested, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. A quantity of drugs and a handgun were seized as part of the investigation. The electronics that were reported stolen however, remain outstanding.

Those arrested were later released without process as part of the ongoing investigation.
