Hey Maple Ridge! I’m Celina Dominelli, the Crime Prevention Unit Supervisor with the Ridge Meadows RCMP!
The Crime Prevention Unit oversees RCMP volunteer activities within Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, engaging with the community through public events and educational initiatives. I have been working for the City of Maple Ridge for approximately 2 years now and it’s been a wonderful experience. I grew up right here, in the Ridge Meadows community, so to get to work in the same place I was raised and see how much this City has grown is such a unique opportunity!
This year, Maple Ridge is hosting the 2024 BC Summer Games – a truly momentous event for our community! I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to play even a small role in its implementation and success. This is the third time that the BC Summer Games will be held in Maple Ridge and the City has invested a large amount of time and resources to make it our best Summer Games yet!
As a BC Summer Games volunteer, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and connect with so many different individuals who have all come together, for their own personal reasons, to help facilitate the Games. I’m looking forward to seeing the over 3000 youth athletes, coaches, and officials come together to celebrate sport, community, and fun!
Volunteers are an integral part of the 2024 Maple Ridge BC Summer Games. They will be vital in assisting with everything Games related – from Food Services, to Accommodation, to Access Control. As for the Crime Prevention Unit, a number of our own RCMP volunteers have registered as BC Summer Games volunteers and will be assisting in a variety of roles throughout the Games.
The Crime Prevention Unit will also be supporting the event peripherally, by facilitating Crime Prevention activities and volunteer shifts that coincide with BC Summer Games sporting and special events.
I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy all that the 2024 Maple Ridge BC Summer Games has to offer! And if you see a Crime Prevention Volunteer, come up and say hi!
