Pitt Meadows, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Pitt Meadows.

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP frontline officers responded to reports of a serious single vehicle incident on Golden Ears Way near Lougheed Highway in Pitt Meadows. Police attended and observed BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) attending to the driver of a motorcycle who had sustained severe injuries to their head and body.

Despite life-saving measures provided by BC EHS, the driver of the motorcycle, a 70-year-old male from Langley, was pronounced dead on scene at approximately 7 p.m.

Initial reports and eyewitness accounts indicate that the motorcyclist was travelling northbound on Golden Ears Way approaching the overpass above Lougheed Highway before losing control of the vehicle, colliding with the centre median, and being ejected of the motorcycle.

Golden Ears Way was shut down in both directions for several hours after the collision.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
