File # 2024-20995

Kamloops RCMP are asking for witnesses and dash-cam footage after a targeted shooting, which left one man seriously injured.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a person being shot in the 170 block of Tranquille Road.

Upon the officer’s arrival, they found a vehicle in the river, and a 40-year-old male victim, known to police. The victim suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly thereafter, at approximately 7:20 p.m., officers recovered a burned Audi, silver in colour, on Jamieson Creek Forest Service Road and Westsyde Road.

Then, at approximately 3:40 a.m., on July 4, 2024, a second burned out BMW, black, was also recovered in the 1700 block of Parkcrest Avenue.

Both of the above vehicles are believed to be related to the shooting.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and related to the BC Gang Conflict, says Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP spokesperson. The Kamloops RCMP’s Target Enforcement Unit is leading the investigation, with support from Serious Crime, General Investigations Unit, Forensics Unit, and frontline officers, to identify the suspect(s).

We are concerned this occurred in a public area, and want to remind the public to be vigilant, as we continue to invest considerable resources in investigating both this and the other recent shootings, states Staff Sergeant Todd Wiebe, of the Kamloops RCMP Detachment’s Investigative Services Section.

Kamloops RCMP is asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-camera footage, to contact them, 250-828-3000.
