Police respond to Canada Day stabbing

The Ridge Meadows RCMP is investigating a stabbing that took place in Maple Ridge, on July 1, 2024.

On July 1, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Ridge Meadows frontline officers received and responded to reports of a stabbing in the 1800 block of 224th.

The victim on scene was suffering from stab wounds and was transported by BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) to Royal Columbian Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ridge Meadows Investigative Support Team (IST) and Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) also attended the scene and have conduct of the investigation.

The Ridge Meadows RCMP made an arrest shortly after the incident; the suspect will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

Police believe this to be a targeted incident given that it occurred between parties who were known to each other. It is believed that there is no further threat to public safety at this time.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
