The Kamloops RCMP Detachment responded to approximately 418 calls for service from Friday June 14, to 9 a.m. on Monday June 17, 2024. Below are some highlights from those reports.

Business break in, man arrested

2024-18777

A report of a break-in at a business on Shuswap Road led to police removing an unwelcomed guest.

On Sunday June 16, 2024, around 11:15 p.m., Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment frontline officers responded to the report, in which an employee attended his worksite to find a door unlocked and empty food containers and wrappers in the lunchroom. A suspect was located inside another building nearby and was arrested for break and enter and mischief. At the time, nothing was located damaged or stolen.

The man was lodged in cells to sober up safely, released without process, and instructed not to return to either property.

Stolen skid steer, suspect located

The Kamloops Police Dog Service Unit brought frontline officers to a theft suspect Saturday morning.

On Saturday June 15, 2024, around 8:12 a.m., the Kamloops RCMP Detachment received a report of two people driving a possibly stolen skid steer on Mission Flats Road. The vehicle was located roadside and the suspects had fled. Shortly after, Police Service Dog Potter brought officers to one of the two men, who was taken into custody without issue.

The suspect was later released with a court date and conditions, with charge recommendations anticipated as part of the ongoing investigation.

Arson investigation

Police are investigating a dumpster fire after being called to the 700-block of Notre Dame Drive on Friday night.

On June 14, 2024, around 9:40 p.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers received a report of a woman with injuries on her face, burning items in a dumpster. A suspect was arrested and taken to hospital soon after for medical treatment.

Shots fired investigation

Police are looking for more information related to a shots-fired report received early Saturday morning.

On June 15, 2024, around 5:10 a.m., a person attended the Kamloops RCMP North Shore Detachment to report that he had been shot at, shattering the back window of his vehicle, near Mission Flats Road and Victoria Street West. Few details were provided to police. The man received minor injury.

Indecent act on Lorne Street

A man was taken into custody early Friday morning following three calls to police about a man committing an indecent act.

On June 14, 2024, around 7:50 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 200-block of Lorne Street in response to the reports, where they located a suspect and arrested him. He was lodged in cells and later released with a court date.
