File # 2024-19632

Kamloops police are working with the BC Coroners Service to confirm the identity and cause of death of a man found in the river Sunday.

On June 23, 2024, around 7:10 a.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment officers were called to the 1700-block of Clifford Avenue for a report of what appeared to be a deceased person in the water near a dock. Police and the BC Coroners Service attended and are investigating concurrently.

Based on what was observed during the initial police attendance, the person appeared to be in the water for sometime, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. We are still working to confirm the person’s identity and notify his next of kin.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information they think may be helpful is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-19632.
