Building off of the success of Project Sentinel, Ridge Meadows RCMP is partnering with the City of Maple Ridge and the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association to ensure a visible and accessible public safety presence in the Maple Ridge downtown core.

Led by the Ridge Meadows RCMP Mental Health Unit (MHU), Downtown Foot Patrols are an opportunity for members to engage and connect with the public and listen to their questions and concerns.

Downtown Foot Patrols will prioritize engaging with businesses in Maple Ridge’s downtown core.

Patrolling MHU members will also be providing outreach and referrals to community partners for individuals facing mental health or substance abuse challenges. MHU will work in concert with the City of Maple Ridge’s Community Safety Officers and the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association and will receive support from the Ridge Meadows RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and Road Safety Target Team (RSTT).

Police operations such as Downtown Foot Patrols, Community Safety Booths, and Project Sentinel are part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and police visibility in the Maple Ridge Town Centre.

Downtown Foot Patrols provide a visible and approachable police presence in the downtown core. We want the public to feel confident approaching patrolling members knowing that their question or concern will be heard, states Sergeant Joe Whalley with the Ridge Meadows RCMP Specialized Response Team.

We look forward to seeing you out there.
