Police investigating train collision

One person was located deceased following a report of a train collision involving a pedestrian this morning.

On Thursday June 13, 2024, around 6 a.m., Kamloops RCMP frontline officers attended the tracks near Kelly Douglas and Vicars roads, after being notified by Canadian Pacific Railway of the collision. Shortly after, a person was found deceased nearby.

It’s very early in the investigation, which will be conducted concurrently with the BC Coroners Service and the Canadian Pacific Railway Police, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. The collision occurred in an area near a tire plant, across the highway from a motel. If anyone witnessed or captured any surveillance or dash camera footage from early this morning or overnight that could be connected, please contact police as soon as possible with any information that may be available.

Those with information that may help establish what transpired before the pedestrian was struck, are asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2024-18241.
