IHIT investigating a homicide in Port Kells

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of an investigation of a homicide which occurred late-night on June 16, 2024, in the Port Kells neighbourhood.

Background:

On June 16, 2024, at approximately 10:00 pm, first responders from the Surrey RCMP responded to a residence near the 9800-block of 182A Street, Surrey and found a woman with life-threatening injuries. Paramedics arrived and transported the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite life-saving measures, the woman succumbed to her injuries. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called to investigate.

Following a search of the area by additional police responders and the Integrated Police Dog Service (IPDS), a suspect was located and taken into police custody. This suspect remains in custody for an unrelated charge and the homicide investigation is ongoing. In order to further the investigation, the victim is being identified as 30-year old Tory Dunn, from Surrey.

IHIT is working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP, the BC Coroners Service, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS). Homicide investigators are continuing to canvass the neighbourhood for witnesses and video surveillance.
