IHIT called to Burnaby to investigate homicide

IHIT has been called to Burnaby after a stabbing which has left one man deceased.

On Monday, June 17, 2024, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Burnaby RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 3800-block of 1st Avenue (near Ingleton Avenue). When officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim on the ground, unconscious, with life-threatening injuries. Burnaby Fire Department and Emergency Health Services also attended the scene. First responders attempted life saving measures, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police will remain on scene throughout the evening and are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.

IHIT has been notified and has taken conduct of the investigation. Further details will be handled by the IHIT Media Relations Officer.

Homicide investigators are looking to speak to any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video in the area between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
