Antique firearms stolen from business

File # 2024-2275

On Friday, June 7, 2024, at 4:40 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report of a break, enter, and theft in progress at a business located in the 1400 block of Cedar Avenue, in Trail, BC.

The officers arrived on scene to discover that the suspects had fled. The owner reported a number of antique firearms had been stolen after thieves gained entry through an insecure entry point.

The matter remains under investigation. If you have any information about this crime, or know the whereabout of the firearms, please contact the Trail and Greater District RCMP at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.

Stolen trailer hitch leads to recovery of stolen truck and motorcycle

On Friday, June 7, 2024, at 6:24 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report that a trailer hitch was stolen off a truck in the 8000 block of Waneta Road, in Trail, BC.

The owner of the trailer hitch contacted the police and reported the incident. He observed that the suspects who took the trailer hitch were driving a grey Toyota Tacoma. The owner patrolled the area in his own vehicle and located the grey Toyota Tacoma abandoned in the 2700 block of Old Waneta Road, in Trail, BC.

Police attended the scene and discovered that the truck was stolen, as well as a motorcycle located in the truck bed. The trailer hitch was also recovered at the scene.

The matter remains under investigation.

On Friday, June 7, 2024, at 8:21 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District officer received a report that a 2007 black F350 Ford diesel truck was stolen from the parking lot of a business in the 2700 block of Highway Drive, in Trail, BC.

Surveillance footage captures the image of two suspects entering the lot that are believed to be associate to the theft.

Suspect #1 is described as a man dressed in black clothing.

Suspect #2 is described as man dressed in a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

If you spot this truck, or have any information on its whereabouts or the identity of the suspects, please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.

This truck may be travelling back and forth between Trail and Grand Forks. Please contact the Trail Detachment if you spot it, says Sgt. Wicentowich

File # 2024-2308

On Friday, June 7, 2024, at 9:55 a.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District officer received a report that someone had damaged the lock of a gate to a business located in the 8000 block of Waneta Road, in Trail, BC. The suspects were believed to be attempting to gain entry to the property to steal a camper trailer.

The recovered stolen Toyota Tacoma (File # 2024-2299) was also associated to this attempted theft.

Trail and Greater District RCMP believes that we have a two to three men in the area that are actively stealing trucks and camper trailers. Please make sure your vehicles and keys are secure, and do your best to secure your camper trailers, says Sgt. Wicentowich

Fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 22 near Trail

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 1:11 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP and BC Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a collision between a motor cycle and a commercial transport truck on Highway 22, near Trail, BC.

A 53-year-old Grand Forks man was riding his motorcycle southbound on Highway 22 when he allegedly veered into the oncoming lane and struck the front of a commercial transport truck. The truck driver attempted to veer out of the way but was not successful. The motorcyclist was believed to have been killed on impact. The truck driver was shaken up over the incident but believed to be uninjured.

Trail RCMP, with support from BC Highway patrol, conducted an investigation at the scene and the highway remained closed for several hours. Trail RCMP discovered that 53-year-old Grand Forks man was unlicensed and prohibited from driving within the Province of BC.

The incident occurred in an active construction zone; however, it was not believed to be a factor in the cause of the incident. The BC Coroner Service and Worksafe were notified about the incident.
