Powell River RCMP warn public about indecent act

On May 19, 2024 Powell River RCMP received a report of an indecent act that occurred at Willingdon Beach some time between 5:30pm and 6:30pm that day.

A woman reported that she was sunbathing on the beach when an unknown man approached her and engaged in conversation of a sexual nature. The man allegedly had his hands in his pants and propositioned the woman. The woman refused and the man left.

The man is described as Caucasian, mid to late 50s, approximately 5’10’’, weighing 165-170 pounds. The man has short gray hair and a gray beard. The man has two dogs; a white pointer with brown spots, and a skinny black pitbull cross. He drives a dark gray Hummer H3.

Powell River RCMP seek information about an arson in the trails surrounding the Complex

On May 20, 2024, Powell River RCMP responded to a call from Powell River Fire Rescue regarding a fire that had been set in the trail system surrounding the Powell River Recreation Complex.

Powell River Fire Rescue located the fire that had been deliberately set in a hollowed out cedar tree near the trail head across from qathet General Hospital. A second, smaller fire had also been set nearby. 

Photographs were taken by Powell River Fire Rescue prior to successfully extinguishing both fires.

Item of value found on Joyce Avenue

On May 23, 2024, a piece of jewellery of small value was turned in to the Powell River RCMP detachment. The item was located on Joyce Avenue at Barnet Street.
