Trail woman entered guilty plea to several criminal charges; received jail time

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was on a routine patrol when she observed a 41-year-old Trail woman that was in breach of her condition not to be near a business in the 950 block of Farwell Avenue, in Trail, BC.
The officer arrested the woman for breaching her condition and transported her to the Trail Detachment cell block. She was held in custody by a Provincial Court judge after attending her bail hearing via telecommunication.
On April 19, 2024, Crystal Dawn Schubert (41) appeared before a Provincial Court Judge and entered guilty pleas to and received a total of 80 days in jail:
- Failure to comply with a probation order contrary to Section 733.1 of the Criminal Code;
- Theft under $5000 contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code x 2;
- Breach of an undertaking contrary to Section 145(5) of the Criminal Code;
- Breach of a release order contrary to Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Mischief under $5000 contrary to Section 430(4) of the Criminal Code;
Suspicious fire results in arrest of Trail woman

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 2:49 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District received a report about a suspicious fire that had broken out near a business in the 1200 block of Esplanade Avenue, in downtown Trail, BC. Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Department extinguished the fire. There was minor damage to the property as a result of the fire.
The officer reviewed video surveillance footage which showed a 55-year-old Trail woman allegedly setting the fire. The officer located and arrested the woman for Arson contrary to Section 434 of the Criminal Code. The woman was later released on conditions.
Trail RCMP will forward a report to Crown Counsel for review.
The 55-year-old woman will make her first appearance on June 20, 2024, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC.

Mischief at Warfield residence

On Monday, April 21, 2024, at 12:11 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a report about a 21-year-old Warfield woman allegedly using a baseball bat to smash the front windows of a residence located in the 600 block of Shakespeare Street, in Trail, BC.
The officers located and arrested the woman at a residence near the scene of the alleged crime. She was later released on conditions and will make an appearance at a future court date.
The Trail RCMP will recommend that the 21-year-old Warfield woman face be charged with one count of Mischief contrary to Section 430(3) of the Criminal Code.
