Five vehicles impounded in six days

Lake Country RCMP has been conducting patrols of the community and have impounded 5 vehicles from December 10 to December 15. Four for impaired operation and 1 for excessive speeds.

December 10 while conducting stationary radar speed enforcement north of Lake County on Hwy 97 an officer found a vehicle travelling at 145 km/hr in the posted 100km/hr zone. The vehicle was stopped and the officer found evidence of recent alcohol consumption. The driver provided breath samples which were found to be over the legal limit. They were issued a violation ticket for excessive speed, 90 day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (90/30 IRP)

December 11 Lake Country officer pulled a vehicle over for speeding and the driver showed signs of impairment. Breath samples obtained found them to be over the legal limit. They were issued a 90/30 IRP.

December 12 while on patrol on Hwy 97 in the Lake Country core a vehicle was found to be travelling 112 km/hr in the posted 50 km/hr zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was issued a violation ticket and their car was impounded for 7 days.

December 14 Officers attended a party on Jim Bailey Rd in Lake Country and warned partiers that officers would be conducting enforcement in the area looking for impaired drives. Unfortunately, one person did not heed the warning and was stopped driving away. They provided a breath sample and were found to be impaired. They were issued a 30/90 IRP

December 15 an officer was patrolling on Hwy 97 and observed a vehicle swerving as it driving. When it turned into 7-11 the car was stopped. The driver appeared to be under the influence and provided breath samples. Sample showed the driver was impaired and they were issued a 30/90 IRP.

We want everyone to enjoy the holidays, being able to get to their homes and gatherings safely. Lake Country officers will be on patrol to ensure the roads are safe to travel and will be looking for anyone placing other travelers in danger. Happy holidays!
