2023-159 – Liquor theft

On January 8, 2023, a man posing as a food delivery driver went into a restaurant in the 4500 block of Chateau Blvd., stole a bottle of 18-year-old malt scotch whiskey valued at $200, and left the property by car. Staff reported the theft. Police found and arrested the thief who is local to the Whistler area. The restaurant did not wish to pursue charges as they negotiated with the thief to pay for the liquor.

Impaired driving

Over the last week, proactive enforcement against impaired driving included a road check where members spoke with 50 drivers. One driver said she had not drunk any liquor, but she showed signs of impairment. Her breath test resulted in FAIL, and members issued her a 90-day driving prohibition. In another instance as a member was on patrol, he did a road stop with a driver who showed mild signs of impairment, and the member issued him a three-day driving prohibition. In both instances, drivers were local.

On January 3, 2023, police received three reports of theft from various local outdoor stores. In total, the thief stole a hat, two jackets, and a helmet, all worth $1,955. Members continue following up with various avenues of investigation to identify the suspect.
