File # 2017-40252

The Nanaimo RCMP has in their possession of a full set of child's hockey gear and a top end child's backpack and is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the lawful owners.

The hockey gear was turned over the Nanaimo RCMP on August 30th after it was found by a City of Nanaimo bylaw officer, under the stairs of the Military museum on Gordon St. The gear consists of Easton skates, a black Bauer helmet, shin pads, pants and elbow pads. One very small grey and black sock was also located. The equipment was most likely stolen and was being stored under the stairs to be retrieved at a later date.

The backpack was found on November 28th near a home on Janelle Place. The finder said the backpack had been there for 3 days and is virtually brand new with the labels and instructions still attached.

If you have any information on either item, please call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345. If you wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at www.nanaimocrimestoppers.com text 274637, keyword Nanaimo or call 1-800-222-8477.
