Nanaimo file # 2017- 24973 Sometime overnight on Wednesday August 2nd an locked Toyota Echo parked on Mexicana Road was ransacked. Taken was a men's wallet containing personal ID. Did you know  that 45 percent of all theft from vehicles occurs from unlocked vehicles, with wallets being one of the items preferred by thieves. Always lock your doors and never leave valuables in your vehicle.

Nanaimo file # 2017-24978 Sometime overnight on Wednesday August 2nd a CUBE IT storage container parked outside Sleep Country on Mary Ellen Drive was broken into. Employees locked the storage container at 9:30 pm and at 10 am the next day found the unit opened and the lock broken off. Taken were mattresses valued at approximately $5000.

Nanaimo file # 2017-24995 Sometime overnight on Wednesday August 2nd a number of car items were stolen from the backyard of a home in the 7000 block of Benwaldun Road in Lantzville. The owner stated they were cleaning their floor mats, seat covers and car kit and had left them in their back yard to dry overnight. Stolen were 4 floor mats and 4 seat covers. The stolen Kit truck contained 2 blankets, an air pressure kit, battery charger, first aid kit, tool box and Samsung cell phone.

Nanaimo file # 2017-25425 On Saturday August 5th two males stole upwards of 700 dollars of construction marking crayons from Midland Tools, located at 464 Terminal Ave. Just after 4 pm the two white males entered the business then proceeded to fill their pants pockets and shirt pockets with the crayons. They then walked out of the store. The theft was only realized after in store video surveillance was checked. The two males were both in their 30's. The first male had a shaved head with a tattoo on his chest and had what was described as an angry red face. The second male was approximately 6 ft. 1 with short red hair and had on a burgundy shirt and plaid shorts.

Nanaimo file # 2017-25536 On Friday August 4th a Dodge Ram 2500 parked at the Charlene boat ramp on Hammond Bay Road was broken into. Taken were a men's wallet and computer part from underneath the hood of the vehicle.

Nanaimo file # 2017- 25633 On Saturday August 5th at approximately 3:20 pm a bicycle was stolen from the running track behind NDSS. The owner told police he was running at the track and had left his unlocked bike leaning against a nearby fence. When he returned to where his bike was he saw a male riding off on it wearing his blue helmet. The suspect male was described as white, chubby with short blonde hair and wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. The bike is new silver Supercycle.

Nanaimo file # 2017-25637 On Monday August 7th a grass fire at 357 Howard Ave was intentionally set and has been deemed arson. On August 2nd another fire was set on the same lot; investigators believe the two fires may have been started by the same individual. A video has been released of the August 2nd fire and shows a male dressed all in black and carrying a black backpack walking through the lot. Moments later, flames appear and the male runs off. Both fires remain unsolved. 


Nanaimo file # 2017-25949 On Monday August 7th a bicycle was stolen from outside Macdonald's restaurant on Princess Royal Ave. The bike is a bright yellow 21 speed Norco Sasquatch with serial # SF00744219.
